About Me: | |||||||||||||||||
|
My name is Jer Fairall and I live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I just graduated from Riverside Secondary School last year and I'm starting at the University of Windsor in the fall. I'm mainly interested in music (see below) but I'm also into movies (recent faves: "The Opposite of Sex," "The Butcher Boy," "The Wedding Singer" and "Zero Effect") and books (currently reading "Purple America" by Rick Moody). I don't watch much TV (it's a waste of time, if you ask me) but I'm a devoted fan of "The Simpsons," "Dennis Miller Live," and "Mystery Science Theater 3000." My hobbies include shopping (CD's, mostly), biking, internetting (is that even a word?), hanging out with my friends and occasionally going to concerts (most recently Loud Family @ The Grog Shop in Cleveland on July 13).

As I mentioned before, I'm a music freak. I'm rather eclectic and, at times, downright obscure (ever hear of Neutral Milk Hotel? How about Weeping Tile?) but I mainly listen to alternative, independent, folk, pop and rock. Have a look at my Best of 1997 lists , then hit "Print" and then head out to HMV :-)

Here's what I cuurently have on heavy rotation: Liz Phair "Whitechocolatespaceegg Liz's long awaited third album, her first in four years (if you don't count the 1995 ep "Juvenalia" which was made up mostly of early demos), is finally here and while early reports that said it was less than spectacular had me worried, I'm happy to report that this is a very fine album. Sure, it doens't have the same impact that "Exile in Guyville" had five years ago and it isn't as instantly catchy as 1994's "Whip-Smart," but it's still pure Liz! Favorite Tracks: Perfect World, Johnny Feelgood, Polyester Bride, What Makes You Happy, Shitloads of Money
